Originally founded by George W. Meek during the 1970's, subsequently chartered as a nonprofit corporation on December 13, 1982. Designated by IRS in April of 1983 as tax exempt public foundation under section 501(c)3 of Internal Revenue Code.
  MetaScience has no salaried employees, all work is performed by volunteers. The officers and board of directors also contribute their time without salary. The foundation's purpose is continuing research and educational activities on the basic nature of humanity. MetaScience has operated and/or funded five research labs in the U.S. and England.
   No affiliation exists with any religious group or denomination. No political or religious views are expressed by the organization. The foundation does not lobby or support any particular social agenda.
